How do I restore this oslo lamp?

I bought this gorgeous Oslo lamp for $30. I’m trying to restore it, and need advice on the following:

1. How can I restore the metal pole? It’s quite rusty. I’ve tried using autosol - will that work?

2. How can I restore the paint? Would I be able to colour match it if I brought it in?

Thanks for sharing your question about restoring your Oslo lamp. I suggest carefully removing the lamps off the post and setting them aside in a safe spot. You should now be able to lean the post down and remove the base of the lamp. Once you've removed the post, I suggest using 400 to 600 grit sandpaper to sand the surface in the direction of the grain of the surface. It's important that it goes in the same direction so that the sanded section will not stand out.  

After sanding, wipe down the lamp with a microfiber cloth to remove dust, then clean it thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or acetone to eliminate any oils or residues. This step is crucial for proper adhesion. If there are any areas you don't want coated, use painter's tape to mask them off. Find a suitable area where you can spray the post. I suggest looking at White Knight 300g Clear Gloss Rust Guard Quick Dry Spray Paint to seal the post.

My best advice is to make sure to give each coat enough time to properly cure. I recommend a minimum of two thin coats rather than a single thick coat that could cause the spray paint to slide and wrinkle. In regards to the base, I suggest bringing it with you and asking the stores paint specialist to have a look and see if there is a spray paint colour that is similar to it. There is also the option of getting a colour match and using a spray gun to repaint the base. 

Once the paint on the post and base have fully cured, you can now reassemble your lamp.
