How to create a wind barrier?

Hi All , this is my first time posting here . We have recently moved into our house . It’s double storey house and backyard is facing west . At the moment there is no houses at back . And currently back yard is extremely windy. Backyard is about 16mx6m . We have 1m wide garden bed along the fence line . I currently have Pencil Holly and Nandina planted on the west on the north and south side I have planted Camellia . Since all these are very small the moment . What can I do to control the wind . I am open to all suggestions if I should add more plants / trees any more covered area etc .

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about creating a wind barrier.

I propose using Saxon 110cm Black T Steel Fence Post in combination with Coolaroo 1.83m Wide 50% UV Shade Cloth Per Metre. You can plant 3 fence posts into the ground for each plant or create a larger barrier for 3 plants. the purpose of the shade cloth is to stop the constant buffeting of the wind while your plant is trying to establish itself. The shade cloth can be kept in place using cable ties. I've placed a few sample images below to give you a general idea of how it can be done.
