Would Builders Bog be suitable to fill in deep scratches from years of excited Staffies trying to get in or would there be a better product?

Thanks for sharing your question about using builder's bog on your timber gate. Yes, you can use builder's bog on this type of damage. My best advice is to not add too much activator so that you'll have time to flatten the bog onto the damaged surface. Try to keep it as flat as possible so that you won't have to do a great deal of sanding to level it off. Another alternative is to use Timbermate 1kg Agnew's Water Putty. It is an excellent filler for patching and levelling wood, plasterboard, cement sheet, concrete, etc. Particularly suitable if you need a hard-wearing surface.
