Can you install a bidet without a plumber?

Known affectionately in Thailand as "bum guns" but advertised here as bidet sprays can I install one of these myself without a registered plumber? I've read posts about needing a reverse flow valve for bidets but this is slightly different hence my post.

Hi @nels,

The installation would involve plumbing connections, so you would need a licensed plumber to install the bidet and the required reduced pressure zone backflow preventer.

Out of curiosity what does a reduced pressure zone backflow preventer do?

It stops any nasties that might get on the end of the nozzle from mixing with the water in the line and entering your home's water, preventing drinking water contamination, @nels. A similar deal is required on irrigation systems and the hose you use to fill the pool. The water can get sucked back into the home's supply.
