Is it safe to remove an antenna wall plug?

We have an antenna point which we don’t use anymore and I want to wallpaper the wall. I don’t want it to be visible it’s ugly so I started to pull it off😬. I stopped because it’s all attached from behind and I became worried that it may be connected to the electricity. Is it safe to dismantle it ourselves?

While coaxial cables only carry low voltage power, it is still advisable that you have an electrician remove and deactivate it for you. This will ensure things are done safely and to standard.

I'm a registered cabler and I can advise that there is no regulation stopping you from doing this yourself. The voltage on that connection is only what it can pick up out of the air and you couldn't even feel it if you touched it. That said tape up the end when you disconnect it just in case there are other outlets in parallel with it (so it doesn't stop them from working by shorting out the already weak signal) then simply fill over it. I would suggest folding a piece of cardboard into a U shape and put that over the cable first to reduce the amount of filler needed.
