How to re-paint aluminium window frames?

Hi all, we are wanting to paint our aluminium window frames as they’re currently green and the paint is chipping away. 
we just bought this house so we don’t know what paint was previously used, most windows have paint chipping. Should we use a paint stripper to strip the old paint? Or should we sand with steel wool? It will be a huge task as we want to paint the window frames inside and out. 

we were thinking to paint with the Dulux prime and paint spray paint.thank you!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about painting your aluminium window frames.

You can use paint stripper to remove the paint, but I find it messy and cumbersome to tidy up. Plus, that fact that you then need to sand the surface after using the paint stripper as it does not leave a flat surface to paint on. I therefore suggest sanding the frame instead in order to get a nice flat finish straight away. To expedite the sanding process, I suggest investing in a detail sander, this will allow you to get into the tight corners of the frame and cut the sanding time in half.

In regards to the paint I recommend having a look at the Dulux 300g Metalshield Epoxy Enamel Spray Paint Satin Black.
