How to remove shower tap at wall?

Hi I’ve seen posts about taps but I’m having trouble removing the conical piece at the wall. I don’t actually care that I’ve hacked at it trying to turn it because we will be doing Reno soon. But I need to remove to stop a leaking shower. It just simply doesn’t seem to want to budge. And certainly not with tools that I have

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @bonners74. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a tap bonnet.

I'd suggest trying some locking pliers attached tightly on the more parallel-sided section just below the spindle. They'll give you just about the tightest gripping force but will damage the coating.
