A vintage drinks trolley transformed using bright red paint and new parts.
The project
Purchased this pre-loved bar cart from Gumtree as we loved the shape and versatility but not much else. So we got to work stripping it back but kept parts we could clean up and reuse, and replaced parts that were run-down. We love the end result and it draws so much attention sitting pretty in our dining space!
Steps
Step 1
Dismantle the cart.
Step 2
Sand all timber components.
Step 3
Clean and polish metal components such as hinges.
Step 4
Undercoat all timber components and lightly sand once dried.
Step 5
Apply three coats of paint colour.
Step 6
Jigsaw, sand and wax timber wheels. Then apply rubber tread with double-sided tape.
Step 7
Add new black handles to two drawers.
Step 8
Re-assemble all components of cart.
