How to revive palms in pots?

Hi, I have two palms in pots. I repotted them last year with premium potting mix and some fertilizer. For the past year or two they have both been under cover and getting limited sun light. Yesterday I moved them so they get direct sun light more.

You can see that the plants are still alive and are growing new green branches, but there are some branches which are almost dead and have black spots on them. 

What is the best way to revive these? Should I cut off the dieing branches, or just let things naturally progress? I am watering about once a week at the moment, and am hoping the sun will help with rejuvination but am concerned the black stuff on the leaves may be a disease.

Hi @Murlun,

The black on the leaves forms when they die off, and I don't believe it is a sign of disease. I think the issue here is you need to find the right location for them. Perhaps before, they didn't get enough sunlight. However, here, they might get too much and will likely burn, especially up against that brickwork, which will radiate heat. Look for a location where they get plenty of indirect sunlight, dappled light throughout the day or just a few hours of morning or afternoon sunlight. You don't want them receiving midday sun as they will burn easily.
