How to fill and re-drill holes in brick to install new roller blinds?

Hi, I'm installing new roller blinds. The problem is that I need to drill new holes into the brick with existing screw holes because the bracket size is different. What filler can I use to fill in the existing holes and maintain the strength of the brick? Thanks.

Hi @kiv777,

Thank you for your question about filling holes in bricks.

I'd suggest filling the old holes with Earl's 1kg Concremate Expanding Cement. This is a shrink-resistant concrete filler that would be perfect for this application.

If you had terracotta bricks, you could also use Mortafil 450g Terracotta Mortar.

Hi @kiv777,

If you were using the Concremate, I'd suggest using this Kango 10mm Tuck Pointer to push the material into the hole repeating until you can't push anymore into the hole. In a pinc,h you could use a butter knife or something along the lines of that.

If you were using the Mortafil, the tubes come with a nozzle that can be directed straight into the hole. A UNi-PRO Skeleton Caulking Gun will make the job easy, but if you are in a pinch, you can use the handle of a hammer to push the bottom of the tube to squeeze the mortar out.
