How to install lawn edging?

Gday all, I’m after some tips and advice on putting in lawn edging.
yep looks pretty straight forward but I’d like to hear any tips to help make it look good. My lawn isn’t dead flat so either.
I’ve attached a picture of the product I’ll be laying down.

Thank you for your question about tips for installing lawn edging.

When installing lawn edging, the process is fairly straightforward, but some tips can help make your project look professional, even if your lawn isn’t perfectly flat.

Start by marking out the area where you want the edging to go. Using a garden hose or string line is a great way to get the shape right before you start digging. Once you’ve marked the boundary, dig a shallow trench slightly wider than the edging itself. For uneven ground, make sure the top of the edging remains level, while the base follows the contours of your lawn. This avoids gaps under the edging and ensures a smooth, neat appearance.

As you install the edging, use a spirit level to ensure it's even across sections, especially on sloped areas. In dips or uneven spots, you may need to add some soil or gravel under the base of the edging to maintain an even top.

I had teh same question whan I was thinking of edging.

The ground I installed the edging on was sloped and the main reason I wanted and edge was to stop gravel exiting the path from under the pavers. I used gravel as I had ordered 3 times as much as i needed for another project lol.

The bits you are after are at the end of both projects. I put/fixed the edging down as I went along the path. I was going to go cheap and not buy the pegs for the edge (and use timber posts I had left) but ended up going and buying them as it really made for a nice uniform look as well as holding the edge in place. The pegs top fits over the edge of the edging itself.

Things to note -

- The edging will move a bit in teh heat of summer, hence the correct pegs 🙂

- It handled going up a slope and then going down without me having to cut it.

- Its still going strong even tho I have run the lawnmover over it to cut weeds on the edge of the path 😲 The lawnmower didnt even mark it or take teh heads off the pegs.

- The edge is sitting so the top of it is level with teh brick pavers. and soil on the other side. It really has kept the gravel in the path itself.

- More pegs used around a corner then the straight section is a good thing.

Whoops one last thing that should have been at the top. As @JacobZ has mentioned a hose marking out how it would look is good, Id add a sketch top down and then a side profile is even better as it makes you "think" of how it will against trees, fences, driveways type deal.
