Is there a Y adapter available for 2 washing machine drain hoses?

You could potentially cobble something together for two hoses of the same size, though doing so with one hose being smaller would be troublesome. The other issue is that you can have problems where if the output of one hose backs up at the spigot, it will try forcing water back down the other machine's hose. Typically, it is best not to join hoses and have them independently enter the trap.

Although we have traps designed to take the larger hose, which has been around for many years, they are yet to catch up for heat-pump dryers with the smaller hose. The only thing I could suggest would be having the trap swapped out for one with two spigots, like the Holman 50mm S&P Trap Combo Set, and then trying to adapt your smaller hose to suit the larger spigot. I've heard tales of people glueing the smaller hose inside the spigot, but that's never a great solution as it doesn't deal with back pressure well and can be prone to failing.

A combination of a Toro 19mm x 13mm Barbed Reducing Joiner, Pope 19mm x 7cm Clear Vinyl Tubing Joiner, two Toledo 14-27mm Perforated Clamp Hose Fit and a Toledo 13-25mm Perforated Clamp Hose Fit, should allow you to create an adaptor that converts the smaller rubber end to something that suits a standard sized spigot on a trap. It's a bit of a Frankenstein approach, but until these hoses come pre-installed with rubber ends that suit standard trap spigots, it's probably as good as we can do.

Basically asking how do I connect the smaller hose to the spigot securely? INside without the funnel is loose

and with the funnel is also loose ( I dont think a hose clamp would help

As mentioned above, I've heard of people siliconing the hose within the spigot, though I don't find this to be a great solution. It would be best to adapt the rubber fitting to connect physically with the spigot on the trap, and I've provided links to products for this above.

There is plenty of discussion on the internet about the funnel not being applicable to Australian connection standards. The issue you must overcome is that the hose isn't designed to connect directly to a trap. I believe they include a U-bend so the hose can be secured to the side of an older-style cabinet trough. Obviously, having it connected directly to the trap is a more aesthetically pleasing method.

Thanks. Man thats a bit crap from Bosch to be honest. Why sell an australian version appliance and not supply the right size hose

It could be possible to utilise that hose @PatDIY_Dad. However, you'd probably need to cut one of the ends off the Bosch hose and push it onto the back of the machine. Then, you'd need to push this hose end over that and use the clamp. I'm not a great fan of you cutting up the Bosch hose to achieve that, as there's a possibility it could still leak. At this point, I think it'd be best to try to cobble together a connection for the trap with the products I've mentioned above. As I don't have one of those Bosch hoses to verify the fittings on, I've selected what I think would work, but you'll need to double-check.

Did you mean to fit the hose over the adapter? Will be very hard to fit it on

Any chance that you can stretch the Bosch hose in hot water? Is the Bosch tip hard or soft? If it's hard, perhaps you can run a 13mm clear hose between the reducer and the hose. The only other option is to reduce it even further with a Holman 13mm Barbed Poly Joiner, this goes from 13mm down to 10mm. You'll need to get some 13mm clear hose and three more clamps to secure the reducer.

I eventually got it in with grease and hot water but still have a look Its still too big

This is what I ended up doing and I think it will work fine. Put silicone on the outside of the male end of the drain hose with the clear tube over the top of the spigot. Pushed it in to seal the top end of it. Then clamped down on the clear hose to the spigot and clamped down up a bit to hold the drain hose

Wont come loose and it is sealed from the silicone

I suggest giving it several hours to cure before you start using it, just to make sure that the silicone is nice and dry.

Just wanted to add that it was I that was in contact with Bosch. I've made them aware of the issue and trust they'll be working towards a solution in order for these hoses to be directly connected to standard Australian traps.

No other solutions were provided apart from using plumbing fittings to make the connection.

Hi all,

Just wanted to add a different solution to this problem that was suggested to me by Rob in the plumbing section of Bunnings at Kotara. I used a Deks Waste Outlet Cap and drilled a hole through the rubber top. I used a 9mm drill bit, but the hole ended up much smaller. This was perfect as it meant the waste hose fits very securely without leaks. Once I'd pushed the hose through the hole, I pushed the cap onto the spigot and tightened the clamp to hold it in place as you can see in the photo. What you'll also notice in the photo is that the waste hose is actually a piece of Kinetic food grade multipurpose reinforced pressure hose, 6mm. I used this as my dryer was too far away from the trap and this hose push fit perfectly in the end of the waste hose on the dryer.

Hope this helps someone with a similar problem and thanks again to Rob at Bunnings for his expert knowledge!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in regards to the Bosch wastewater outlet hose. That is truly top-notch creativity and using the Kinetic food grade hose was truly inspired. The only thing I would add to the fitting is a bead of Selleys 290ml Clear Storm Waterproof Gutter And Roof Sealant where the hose and cap meet.

I think I've discovered the answer under my kitchen sink... except I have been unable to identify what it is called or where to get another - I've tried both image searches and manually scrolling through long lists of products... can anyone identify this?
