Hi all,
I've just poured new concrete in a bedroom and am seeking some advice on how to cover the concrete step at the front.
Thank you for your time,
Wally
Hello @weekendwally
I propose using ordinary pine timber to dress the front of your concrete floor. However, I also suggest taking into account the height of the flooring you'll be putting into the room. Will you be tiling or will you be putting in clip on flooring systems? This will save you from having to adjust and recut the pine panel. Due to the increase in floor height will you be putting in an extra step to the entrance of that room? If you are, then I suggest using pine timber as well to keep it uniform. The best part of course is that you can stain and seal the pine timber in the finish that you like.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Afternoon @weekendwally
I was thinking maybe tiles with a square edge lip at first, Even using the fake timber look floor tile so its just one piece across the width of the step.
Then I saw @EricL 's response 🙂 and yep he convinced me that a timber one will look much nicer and be a lot easier to install. You will also need to redo the base sill but you can match the timber to the step height.

Hi @weekendwally
You haven't mentioned what you intend to cover the new concrete floor with? Being a bedroom I personally would definitely be using carpet. In which case I would have the installers wrap the carpet over the step which will leave a continuous edge with no sharp edge.
However if you were using saying a timber floating floor finish, there is a quite a range of edge profiles and trims available.

Thank you @EricL @Dave-1 @Nailbag for the advice. I will use some pine timber and trim to cover the front. I will be using clip on flooring for the floor.
Great stuff @weekendwally don't forget to share a few updated photos!
