How to get rid of clover mites?

Moved into new house and got clover mites in new grass on the east side of the house. Grass in against the foundation. The clover mites are now coming inside through the east windows and roof. We've repeatedly vacuumed and disinfected inside and sprayed the exterior with water and a barrier spray. What can we do to get ride of the infestation inside and out? Will some treatments not work on eggs making it difficult to get rid of the population?

To tackle a Bryobia mite infestation inside and outside your home, it’s essential to understand that finding effective products can be quite challenging. I am unaware of any registered insecticides specifically targeting Bryobia mites.

While some insecticides are registered for use against other mite species, be aware that the recommended rates used against those mites might not be effective against Bryobia mites due to their natural tolerance to several chemicals. Additionally, insecticides do not kill mite eggs, which complicates control efforts. You'll need to spray periodically over the next several months to a year to break the cycle.

For outdoor treatment, you might consider using general-purpose insecticides that have been effective against other pests, but keep in mind that these may not provide adequate control of Bryobia mites. If you decide to use an insecticide, carefully follow the instructions on the label.

Indoors, regular vacuuming can help remove any visible mites, but it's important to follow up with targeted treatments to enhance your control efforts. Checking that your windows and door seals are intact will also help reduce the chances of further infestation. Additionally, trimming the lawn and removing any vegetation directly next to the foundation will make your home less inviting.

If the excellent recommendations that Mitchell has given you do not eradicate the mites in your home, you may need to resort to using the services of a professional pest exterminator, who is able to source and use chemicals specifically to control such populations. Insecticides available to home owners may not prove efficient whereas the professional products should be. Make sure, if you do go down this path, that the exterior of your house is treated as well as the inside, especially around the perimeter of the slab or foundations.
