How to make outdoor shade cloth rollup blinds?

I would like to make my own outdoor shadecloth blinds. My windows are non standard so readymades won't work. Coolaroo website has some instructions but they use wood and I saw on the bunnings website there are some aluminium strips but I don't know what bit they are for or how to use them. Anyone ever made their own?

Making your own outdoor shade cloth blinds is a great way to customise your space, especially when dealing with non-standard window sizes. To attach the shade cloth above the window, you can use a combination of the V-Grip 915mm Keeper Shade Cloth Accessory and the V-Grip 1.83m Mill Finish Locking Strip.  These products are designed to help securely fasten the shade cloth to a frame or structure. The keeper helps grip the shade cloth, while the locking strip secures it into place. You can use these to create a system where the shade cloth can be rolled up and down with ease.

Alternatively, you can take a piece of a length of timber, wrap the shadecloth around it one and a half times and then screw through the timber and shadecloth into the structure above the window.
