How to fill gaps between timber floorboards?

We recently purchased a home built in 1920 and uncovered some beautiful original wood floors.

We've had them sanded and stained and they look great but I've noticed that the gaps between the boards contains old debris and generally doesn't look great.

I'd like advice on how to fill those gaps so that 1 - it's safe for any young children who may be crawling around

Thanks for sharing your question about your floorboards. There have been quite a few discussions regarding filling gaps between floorboards. I've suggested using fillers and in extreme cases filling the gaps with filler rod. In regards to the debris between the gap, it's difficult to tell what it is, it might be fibres from whatever was covering the timber floor.

Just to be on the safe side, I suggest not letting your child crawl over the gaps.
