How to seal terrazzo in shower?

Shower floor is quite porous terrazzo. Some sections are rough others smooth due to age and wear. I’d like to limit water ingress.

ideally a sealer that’s low voc. Wet finish is ok but nothing slippery.

i could not see any suitable products at Bunnings?

also, curious what method can be used to removed any existing sealer present as a possible top layer without mechanical grinding.

We have a Terrazzo shower floor in our 1950s-era bathroom. We use Shower Plug to seal it and can recommend it.

I'm sure one of our resident Bunnings D.I.Y. experts will also be happy to share their thoughts.

Thanks - I’ll look into shower plug - I’ve seen it mentioned elsewhere a few times.

also, it’s occurred to me there is a bit of mistranslation on this topic.
Most products which are listed as sealers for stone only seal the pours/capillaries in the stone preventing stains from adhering but don’t stop water movement/ingress.

I’ve use seal in the sense of “waterproofing “ or reducing ingress of water if that helps clear any confusion.

I was going to suggest Shower Plug but Jason beat me to it. You could technically use acetone to melt the existing sealer that you have on the surface of the Terrazzo, however, there is the possibility that it might stain the surface or have a bleaching effect on it. Ideally the original manufacturer of the sealer would have a seal remover that's compatible with it.

But if you don't know what brand or product was originally used, I can only suggest using a mechanical method in regards to removing the seal on the surface.
