How to patch a hole in double brick wall?

Hi all,

We just had an old gas heater removed (and replaced with a split system) but it has left this hole that goes straight through to outside. 

Its a double brick unit.

What would be the best way to patch this hole? The big one is roughly 10cm in diameter and the smaller one maybe 4cm in diameter.

We would need to patch it both internally and externally.

Hi @kateaw,

You can start by filling the majority of the holes with expanding foam. This will provide a solid base to fill over. Leave about 30mm of depth on both the interior and exterior sides unfilled to allow for the finishing material. 

Once the foam has cured, trim back any excess foam. Then, fill the remaining depth on both sides with patching cement, ensuring it is smoothed and levelled to match the surrounding wall. Once dry, you can sand it lightly if needed and paint or finish it to blend seamlessly with the existing wall.
