How to fix drain corrosion caused by bleach?

Hi there,

The drain in my bathroom sink basin is corroded due to bleach. Can I repaint the chrome myself or do I need to replace the drain?

Unfortunately, I don’t know of any chrome paints suitable for use in a sink, as they would likely not hold up well to water and use.

However, you can address the issue by sanding back the compromised chrome and then using a more durable option like Rust-Oleum Tub and Tile Touch-Up Kit. This product is designed for areas like sinks and tubs and will give you a more long-lasting finish.

Replacing the waste is another option, and it might be a simpler solution, but it will require a plumber to install the new drain correctly.
