A backyard standalone deck for a shady garden built using composite panels and surrounded by aluminium screening panels.

The project

We had an undeveloped area under a lovely shady area and decided to build a raised deck to relax on during the long hot summer days in Perth.

Steps

Step 1

Set out string lines.

Step 2

Dig and concrete in posts.

Step 3

Bolt on bearers and joists.

Step 4

Lay Ekodeck panels.

Step 5

Hang and frame aluminium panels. 

Step 6

Recess 12-volt lighting into the deck.

Materials used in the project:

• Recycled Ekodeck panels
• Recycled Jarrah beams
• Aluminium panels
• 12v lighting
• Deck clips.

Tools used in the project:

• Drill
• Hammer
• Drop saw
• Level
• String line.
