How to seal gap between garage brick wall and ceiling?

There's a small gap running along & between our garage brick wall and ceiling which allows rain to fall through from the roof space. We're looking to seal up this gap somehow. Is there a way to do this and that’s waterproof?

I have attached photos and there seems to be some painted / colored sections on the brick edge, potentially old owner tried to seal this area previously? Or what is this?

Typically it is best to try tackle the water issue from the outside and stop it entering full stop. as if you seal on the inner egde as a last resort the water maybe a mould issue or a damp wall issue as it allready is inside.

From a flat sheet edge water if it runs of the edge slowly will by means of surface tension not drop to the ground as gravity intended but curl under and flick in towards the brick wall. With out and outside photo I would be pushing a stripe of aluminium flashing 100mm wide as a guess between the roof and brick work using silicone as a seal top and bottom to the roof and the briccks then bend the flashing down at an angle so any water is forced away.

I offer this advice outside unseen.

Definitely agree with @Jewelleryrescue that the best way to deal with this issue will be from the outside and with some form of metal flashing. The light you can clearly see in one of the photos highlights a decent opening that needs to be addressed.

Sending through a few outside photos both wide and closer up and if possible at the same level as the gap will help to provide that more accurate advice.

Plan B from the inside of the garage

would be to pump a truck load of silicone weather proof sealer right into the gaps between the roof and the wall.

The goal is to have a solid bead of silocon under the roof from the inside to the outside not just a bead on the inside.

You will need 3 to 4 tubes depending on the length of that wall get extra. Any left over un opened tubes can be refunded at bunnings thats a huge bonus shopping there

It's great to see our wonderful members have already jumped in with their advice. They've covered all of the options that I see.

It's worthwhile communicating with your neighbour before deciding on a solution, as it is much easier to stop water entry from the outside. If they are happy to work with you, then you will have more success than any efforts from the inside.
