How do i calculate soil needed?

Hi Team!

I am looking to lay turf in my outdoor area. I am currently working on installing a drainage system. 

I understand it is recommended to lay around 100mm topsoil before a lay the turf. My area is approximately 15m2. How many bags of topsoil will I need to get the job done?

Hi @donmattdon,

For those dimensions, you are going to need approximately 1.5 cubic metres of topsoil. 

With a volume that large, it is much more economical to purchase in bulk through our Special Orders desk. I'd suggest giving your local Bunnings store a call and speaking with the team at the Special Orders desk. As our bulk landscape materials come from regional suppliers, they will be able to get in touch with our suppliers and give you a price for the soil as well as delivery.

As 1.5 cubic metres is equivalent to 1500L, if you bought topsoil in bags such as this Seasol 25L Lawn Top Dress Mix, you would need 60 bags.
