How to hang a clock flush against the wall?

hi brains trust. I feel so silly but I’m stumped.
a wall hook isn’t cutting it as the hanging thingy is 3cm from the wall. The clock mechanism in the centre of the clock sticks out so essentially the clock is “floating” on the wall.
Is there some kind of magic contraption/hook that I can use so that this sits flush against the wall??

There is no magical hook I can think of straight away

But will a simple bit of string tied to the clock mounting loop then hooked onto your hook work?

Or use wire if you have it as an option.

I would use a small to meduim string loop just long enough to loop over the hook. The idea is to hang it so it sits flush on the wall,

Vary the string length if the clock is being pulled tilted at the wrong angle.

No need to feel silly – we’ve all been there. The clock’s saw-tooth hanging fitting is designed to simply hook onto a screw head.

One option is to use a 70mm timber screw if you have a wall stud in the right location. Simply install the screw through the plasterboard into the stud, leaving about 30mm of the screw exposed. Then, hang the clock’s saw-tooth fitting over the head of the screw.

If you’re dealing with a masonry wall, you’ll need to use a plastic wall plug in the hole before inserting the screw. This will help secure the clock properly.

If there’s no stud in the right spot and your clock is on the lighter side (1-2 kg), you could use a plastic Wallmate or similar anchor directly into the plasterboard. This should be fine for lighter clocks, but if the clock is heavier than 2 kg, I recommend installing the screw into a stud to ensure it's securely mounted.
