How to make a garden path?

how to make a natural looking path that’s easily maintained from the garage door, with steps down to garden/mulch level, to join onto existing path? See yellow line for where we want the steps and new pathway to join on. 
Something not going to attract termites, and easy enough with stone tiles or something that we can DIY ourselves. 
The height from current garden to garage is 45cm.

Begin by planning the layout. Use spray paint or string to mark the pathway and steps, ensuring the design complements the surrounding landscape. With a 45cm height difference between the garage and garden, you'll need around three steps, each with risers approximately 15cm high for a safe and comfortable transition. Ensure the treads are at least 30cm deep for secure footing. If you do not want to use timber, then you might need to create the steps from bricks and mortar or concrete blocks.

For the path, excavate the area to a depth of about 10cm and lay a weed mat to prevent weed growth. Add a 5cm layer of compacted roadbase as a stable foundation.  

To achieve a natural aesthetic, consider using the WestStone 30 - 50cm Natural Schist Stepping Stones along the path. Lay sand over the compacted base, levelling it carefully, and position the schist stepping stones to form a visually appealing and functional path. Tap them into place with a rubber mallet, leaving small gaps between the stones for drainage and a more organic look. Fill these gaps with gravel or soil, which can be planted with low-growing ground covers for added charm.

Ensure the new path connects seamlessly to the existing one by matching the materials and adjusting the height. Schist stepping stones provide a durable and termite-resistant solution, blending beautifully into the natural environment, and they should complement the natural stone of the existing path.
