How to install water filter with indoor rainwater tap?

Dear Awesome Fellows/Plumbers,

As shown in the photo, I want to connect this water filter to my pre-existing rainwater tap arrangement. The filter's connection port is 1/4 NPT (female). How can I connect the filter with the standard Australian tap outlet?

Would appreciate any suggestions about where I may purchase your recommended product (socket, attachment, converter, etc.). I am based in QLD.

PS: I understand this filter is primarily designed for camping and outdoor purposes. However, I am looking for a way (connector) to connect the filter to my pre-existing indoor rainwater tap arrangement.
I am new to the plumbing space, so please excuse my ignorance.

The filter you have is designed to fit on a garden hose in line and it will filter taste and odour using silver Technology for 4000 litres then will fade to zero effect.

You should really use proper under sink type filter as they can filter bad taste sediments, bugs every thing you can think of including some chemicals

Any installation will require two standard garden hose fitting your hose sprayers use.

From the tap via a hose to your in line filter then add a second hose on to where you wanted filtered water.

Best solution is a good under sink solution make sure replacement cartridges dont cost the earth/

Fun Fact: Did you know desert camel traders use to cart there drinking water in barrels. Ok thats a given but they one day started to hide there silver coin in the water barrels from would be thieves. Cool But as a surprise they noticed the water with the silver in it remain fresher for longer periods during the crossings . Basically silver ions helps kill off bacteria, Thats why some water systems try to use this principle today and maybe why they charge so much.

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

As @Jewelleryrescue has already mentioned, your filter is designed to attach to a snap-on garden hose fitting like this Holman 12mm Hose Connector.

To use your filter in this application, you'll need to attach a Tap Adaptor to both the stopcock and the shower head. If the shower head does not have a male thread, then we'll need to find a workaround.

You'll then need to run two short garden hoses, one from the stop cock to the filter and then one from the filter to the showerhead. You can cut this Holman 12mm x 2m Yardmate Garden Hose in half, then add a Holman 12mm Hose Connector to each cut end.

This is not a typical setup, so I can't guarantee everything will work perfectly, but it is the best method of connecting these fixtures that I can see.

If you want something that is designed for this purpose, check out the Quoss Universal Chlorine Filter which should work with your current arrangement depending on thread sizes.
