near all of the plums have this. Please what is it and how do I treat it?
thank you
Good photo @Fred181
Can you show a photo of the effected plum from the outside ie the markings an or holes. AS it could be several problem sources from fruit fly to fungal infection in the tree.
Any other symptoms of the plum tree? Dead leaves. curl etc.
Thanks @Fred181
Hi @Fred181,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
Similarly to @Jewelleryrescue, I couldn't say what is causing the issue without further investigation. Some photos of a full plum and the tree that they came from would certainly help.
Allow me to tag @Noelle and @mich1972 to see if they have any thoughts.
Once you've uploaded some further photos, I will be happy to look into it.
Jacob
Hi @Fred181
Looks like brown rot to me, a fungal disease that infects the blossom and then develops within the fruit. By autumn, any fruits remaining on the tree will be completely brown and full of fungal spores.
This link to Agriculture Victoria will give you more information, including on what to do to prevent it. It's too late this year but preventative action can start in autumn.
