How to install folding clothesline on brick veneer wall?

Hello handy community,

We are planning to reconfigure our backyard, which would include moving a folding clothes line, which is currently post mounted, and securing it to the wall of our house. My concern is that the wall is brick veneer, and I'm not sure how to ensure it is secure enough as the distance between the bolt holes may not line up with the timber studs. Could a chemical anchor be enough?

You're right to be cautious about securing a folding clothesline to a brick veneer wall, as the wall is typically only one brick thick, which might not be strong enough to handle the weight of a fully loaded clothesline. While a chemical anchor could be helpful, I wouldn't recommend relying solely on the brick veneer for the weight support.

Instead, I suggest securing two vertical timbers to the wall, fixing them at several points along their length to spread the load. This way, the weight is distributed over a larger area, reducing stress on the bricks. You can then attach the clothesline to the top of these posts. This method will provide a more secure solution for supporting the clothesline.
