How to treat fruit trees with yellow leaves?

Hello all,

I have a lemon, orange and lime tree and unfortunately the leaves on my lemon and orange tree have turned yellow (more so the lemon). Could you please kindly provide me with some guidance on how to fix this to make my trees flourish. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Adriana

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @adrivaso. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about citrus care.

Yellowing leaves are often a sign of insufficient fertilisation or nutrients, so this could be the cause. What type of fertiliser have you been using for them? Citrus trees are heavy feeders and require regular fertilising with a product specifically designed for citrus. If you haven't been fertilising, I'd recommend applying Powerfeed and then a dose of slow-release fertiliser.

I’ll go to Bunnings to buy these products today. How exactly do I use these products? I haven’t fertilised my trees yet… I’m very new to this.

For the Powerfeed, you simply mix the required dose in a watering can full of water and water the plants with it @adrivaso. For the Osmocote slow-release, once again, it will tell you on the label how much to use, and it has a spoon inside the container. You sprinkle the fertiliser pellets over the top of the soil.

Give the unfertilised plants a good feeding will drastically improve the leaf colour and overall health.

Hi @adrivaso,

So sorry that I missed this question.

Yes, you would use them at the same time on all three plants. Powerfeed gets applied around once a month and the slow-release only gets applied every six months.
