How do I fix the counter weights in double sash windows? 

I recall seeing several years ago somewhere a video frim bunnings on YouTube I think showing how to do this, however, I am unable to locate this. Does anyone have a video on how to do this to these specific type of windows and also any advice on how to fix them as well as what materials are needed and can I get these materials from bunnings? 

In addition, how do I take these windows off so I can paint the other side (you'll see in one of the photos, paint missed).  Thanking in advance.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about repairing your sash window.

The mechanism of the weighted sash window is covered by the beading or window trim in front of the window. Once you remove the front trim of the window, you'll be able to access the weights that help the window rise up and stay in place. I propose using GRUNT 3.5mm x 5m Starter Cord to replace your old cord, it has a breaking strength of 250kg and is UV protected. The cord can be stapled to the side of the window.

While you have full access to the window structure, you should be able to remove the window itself. I suggest sanding the surface and giving it a fresh coat of paint. Please remember to lubricate your window tracks with bee's wax or dry lubricant before re-assembly.
