How to replace old pool caulking?

We have an outdoor fiberglass pool, and the silicone seal between the fiberglass and the pavement has deteriorated, so I would like to replace it. Please refer to the attached photos.

I am unsure about the easiest way to remove the old caulking and apply the new one without contaminating the pool water.

The products I plan to use are:

• Sika 250ml Primer-3N Adhesion Primer
• Sika 300ml Transparent SikaSil Premium Pool Silicone

However, I am also uncertain about the quantity needed for both products for a 7x4 pool.

I would appreciate any feedback or guidance.

Replacing pool caulking can be straightforward with the correct approach. To remove the old silicone, use a utility knife to cut above and below the existing caulking. This should allow you to pull out larger sections by hand. For any remaining residue, you can use a scraper or rubbing alcohol to clean it up, being careful not to scratch the fibreglass or pavement.

Preventing all pieces of deteriorated silicone from falling into the pool can be tricky, but most debris will likely sink to the bottom, where you can vacuum it up. Make sure your skimmer leaf cage is in place and consider using a filter sock to catch fine debris and protect your filter system.

The amount of product you’ll need depends on the depth of the gap and the amount of filler required. If you’re only applying the primer to the porous pavers, you may need around two containers of Sika Primer-3N. For the SikaSil Premium Pool Silicone, it’s best to start with six tubes, as any unused product can usually be returned.
