How to fix timber floors scratched by furniture?

Hey All,

I'm currently renting this house, the floors are over 70 years old and mostly all scuffed and scratched but after my housemate moved out I saw his bed dug into the flooring doing this. Is there any easy fix? Or is it likely the landlords will take my bond.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your timber floors.

I'm afraid the damage to the timber floor is too severe to be patched up. It will need to be sanded down and filled in with a filler that is the same shade as the timber floor then repainted with a sealer. Doing a partial repair of the timber floor is not advisable as you'll never be able to match the current finish of the floor. Due to age and exposure to the elements the original colour of the floor and sealer has already faded. You'll end up with a much more noticeable section of the floor. 

I'm sorry I can't provide you with better advice. However, I propose asking a local timber flooring specialist if there is a way to give it a cosmetic repair. They might be able to offer an alternative to the full sanding of the floor.
