How to replace a small section of grout?

Hi Community, 

We have a very small amount of grout between our tile and strip drain in our shower that has come loose. I would ideally replace this grout myself instead of pay to have it replaced. My questions are:

1. Can you identify the colour of the existing grout?

2. Can i just grout over what is existing if i remove the loose pieces? 

3. Do i need to remove a larger section of the existing grout to undertake these works?

4. If I have to remove any of the grout is there a specific tool that I should use?

5. Should i fill this with grout or another product consider how small it is?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your tile grout.

I'm sorry I can't identify the exact colour of your grout; My best guess is perhaps it is a light grey. I suggest bringing a few pieces of the grout with you to the store so that you can compare it to the grout sample board in the store. It will be necessary to remove the old grout in between the tile and your long drain waste. I can clearly see that the stainless-steel waste has separated from the grout. The amount of grout to be removed depends on the extent of the separation from your long drain waste.

Generally, I would suggest using a QEP professional grout saw, but because the tile gap is so narrow I suggest using a multi tool with a grout removal blade. Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask as this will generate a lot of dust. Once you've removed the grout and cleaned the area, I suggest using Dunlop 800g Ready-To-Go Coloured Grout - Misty Grey to fill the gap. I can only suggest using grout for this particular application.
