How to remove sliding door rollers?

 This is a sliding bedroom mirror door with a cracked plastic roller.

Each roller housing has one retaining screw. With that removed, the housing slides freely but in grooves, so can't just be pulled out.

I removed the door frame screws hoping to be able to lift the frame edge (top of the photo) out of the way so I could slide the roller housings out, but no luck. It doesn't lift up and wouldn't slide out of the way either.

So how do I get the roller housings out?

It sounds like you're on the right track with removing the side frame of the door. Since you have already removed the retaining screws for the side frame, it's likely that the gasket gripping onto the glass mirror is holding the frame in place. Carefully check if the gasket can be loosened gently without forcing it, as this step is important to avoid shattering the glass and causing injury. If you are unfamiliar with working around glass or if the gasket is difficult to remove, I recommend employing the services of a glazier. A professional glazier can safely assist with the frame removal, ensuring there is no damage to the glass mirror. 

Once the frame is safely removed, you should be able to slide the roller housings out of their grooves; it might require some wiggling to come out. After that, you can install the new roller housing by sliding it into place and securing it with the screws, ensuring the rollers are aligned properly for smooth sliding action. Finally, reattach the frame carefully, ensuring it is secured back in place.
 

Remember to wear PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses, a long-sleeved shirt, trousers and enclosed footwear.
