How to anchor bottom rail of outdoor blind?

I have an outdoor roller blind. The blind is wider than the window. Today it’s 38 degrees and sunny so I have the blind down. But there are no anchors for the bottom rail, so the blind bangs loudly against the wall in the breeze. It also unrolls a bit because of this movement. How can I secure the bottom rail so it doesn’t move excessively or bang?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your roller blinds.

One way to hold the roller blind in place is to attach a Zenith 140mm Black Stretch Loop - 2 Pack at the bottom of your brick wall. Make sure that it is far enough that it can hold tension, this will prevent the bottom bar from lifting up in high wind and keep the blind in place. Another option is to install GRUNT Heavy Duty Anchor Point and use CordTech Reusable Stretch Storage Straps - 4 Pack to hold the bottom bar of the blind in place.

I can hear the blind tap tap tapping in the breeze 🙂 I have had some like this myself in the past.

I am thinking of these StorEase Black Cradle Hook or Pinnacle Large Single Utility Hook HOK035 - 8 Pack You could use those stretch straps that @EricL has mentioned if the blind still dosnt stay put. Id have the blind rest in the hook by a little, weight wise it could help.

Great to see you get a couple of helpful suggestions already. I wonder whether you might simply be able to extend the blind further beyond the brick window sill so that there's more room for movement?

Hi @Joynz

I have two easy options.

Either fix brackets like these to the brickwork or even simpler, grab two tent pegs and a pair of springed tent guy-ropes and secure it slightly out from the wall which will provide increased ventilation and cooling to the window.

Thanks ifor your reply. I thought the sill might rub against the blind and damage it - but on reflection if it’s tensioned this might not be an issue. I’ll try it.
