How to remove agapanthus?

I am in the middle of pulling out some very overgrown agapanthus plants that have taken over the garden. I have got the plants out but in the garden bed is still so many roots. Do I need to get all the roots out to avoid them growing back. What do I need to do next to clear the garden bed and start again.

Agapanthuses are resilient plants that can regrow from small pieces of root left behind, so it’s important to remove as many as possible. Start by loosening the soil with a garden fork or hoe and pulling out any remaining roots. If the soil is dry, lightly water it to make digging easier. Even with thorough removal, some roots may be left behind, so keep an eye on the area over the next few weeks and pull out any new shoots as soon as they appear.

Once the roots are cleared, focus on improving the soil by digging in compost or manure to replenish nutrients. Let the soil settle for a week or two before planting.
