How to mount retractable awning to fascia?

Hi 

am looking at purchasing Windoware retractable awning and would need to mount it to colourbond fascia. I have three rafters/trusses? with the fascia clips in the area I would like to mount it. Can I put a block of timber between the end of each rafters and the metal fascia to bridge the gap and then mount a timber fascia board on the outside of the existing metal fascia, screwing through to the ends of the timber trusses. I would then mount the blind to the new timber fascia board. 

would this set up be strong enough to safely mount this blind?

Your proposed setup sounds fine, provided that the fascia timber is well fixed to the rafters and bridging timbers, and that the bridging timbers themselves are securely attached to the rafters. To ensure adequate strength, you’ll want to use timber of a suitable calibre, ideally something at least 35-45mm thick. A length of 90 x 45mm H3-treated pine would be a solid choice, as it’s durable and suitable for outdoor use.

When securing the new timber, use structural screws or coach bolts to firmly attach it to the rafter ends/bridging timbers. This will create a strong, stable base for mounting the retractable awning.
