How to patch a rendered brick wall?

Hi, we had a heating unit removed from outside the house and we now need to fill the gap! 

The house is currently a textured render. 

Looking for advice on:

1. What product we should use to fill the gap and if there's any particular technique to doing it.

2. If we wanted to paint over it (as well as the surrounding walls), what produce would we use and is there any particular technique to doing it?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @janesmith. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about rendering a wall.

You can use Dunlop 20kg Multipurpose Acrylic Render to fill the gap left by the heating unit. This is a great option as it adheres well to brick and can be applied in layers if needed. Once the render is dry, you’ll want to try and match the texture of the surrounding wall to blend it in.

I also wanted to ask about the texture coat on your wall. The image isn’t quite clear enough to tell, but it almost looks like a pebblecrete coating, which is a mix of pebbles and resin. If that’s the case, painting over it could be tricky since paint doesn’t adhere well to resin surfaces. If you’re unsure, you might want to test a small hidden area with exterior paint before committing to the whole wall.
