Can you install a built-in microwave in Kaboodle oven tower?

We are in the process of installing our new Kaboodle kitchen which includes an oven tower. We have ordered a Westinghouse built in microwave model: WMB2522SC but concerned it will not fit in the microwave box. Can the box be used for a built in microwave?

Hi @Jammer

There is nothing stopping you to utilise the same cavity for a microwave. The cabinet has been designed with additional spacing and heat protection to support an oven, which isn't the same requirement for a microwave oven. A microwave oven only needs enough ventilation as per the owners manual which is quite small.

It's great that you've received excellent advice from @Nailbag. In regards to your question, can the microwave box be used for an inbuilt microwave appliance? Yes, it can be used for a built-in microwave on the condition that the microwave is within the boundaries of the microwave box. The microwave box external measurements are 600mm wide x 520mm deep x 430mm high. The inside space of the microwave box is 568mm wide x 504mm deep x 398mm high.

The WMB2522SC is 596mm wide x 400mm deep x 560mm high. That particular microwave will not fit in the space of the microwave box. I suggest instead looking at the Bellini 25L Stainless Steel Convection Microwave as a possible replacement to the Westinghouse. If you have had your kitchen designed at the store, please speak to your kitchen designer for more details in regards to the Bellini microwave oven.

Thankyou for your prompt reply. We have decided to stick with our Westinghouse built in microwave and modify the box to suit.
