How to repaint pavers and ensure non-slip?

Unfortunately tenants painted my pavers instead of cleaning them as requested. They haven’t advised of the colour used or provided proof of product and water now pools on the pavers so it is a slip hazard. Upon closer inspection it also appears that the paint wasn’t applied evenly, some have more than one coat, resulting in a different colour. Any recommendations of best way to correct this issue in terms of ensuring slip hazard standards are met and even colour?

If they are cement pavers, can be sanded back floorboards this will restore the original look and grip. But if they are glazed this will ruin them.

Failing that there are a number of commercial nonslip paint formulations for wet areas that can be added over the top.

The paint they used might be acrylic not be suited to the pavers and will eventually wear in an uneven matter so a wall paint on the paver will not always take a proper cement paint as some times as they are oil based so this will make a bigger mess.

Tiling the area with outdoor tiles is another option.

As @Jewelleryrescue has mentioned, unfortunately, removing paint from concrete surfaces is not exactly simple and you'd likely need the assistance of a professional concrete grinding company.

Alternatively, you could paint over the existing paint with this Berger Jet Dry 4L Heavy Duty Deep Charcoal Paving Paint with some Berger Jet Dry Clear True Grip mixed in. This will give you a more uniform look with grip to prevent any slipping.
