How to install concrete drainage on south side of house?

Morning,

I recently had a termite barrier quote. It soon became apparent that a barrier could not be placed along south facing side of the house, as there is no concrete drain. In previous renovations a make shift drain comprising small rocks, etc. were placed against the concrete slab/besser blocks, and above the physical termite metal barrier (gee, have I explained clearly?). Consequently, I need to go 800/900ml below the physical termite barrier and drain catchment water to main outlet drain. My question is: am I best to employ a concreter or a landscape gardener? I have attached several photos which will help you better understand my situation. Looking forward to hearing from you. Any help/advise would be much appreciated. It sounds like you need to install proper drainage along the south side of your house, particularly to address the issue with the termite barrier. The best course of action would be to contact a plumber who specialises in drainage, as they’ll have the expertise to install a suitable system and ensure compliance with regulations. They may also have contacts for any excavation work needed to remove overburden before laying the drain line.

Once the drainage is in place, if additional concreting or landscaping is required to finish the area, you could then bring in a concreter or landscape gardener.

Just what I thought. I intend to clear area so less work/costs for plumber/concreter/landscape gardene. I have had a plumber visit. I have a concreter on way too and a landscape gardener for their professional assessment. Are there any questions I should ask? Thanks so much Mitchell. Stephen

Since you have a plumber, concreter, and landscape gardener coming for assessments @StephenBrookes, some useful questions to ask might include how the plumber plans to install the drainage and whether they foresee any challenges with the required depth. You might also want to check if they’ll be connecting to stormwater and whether any approvals or permits are needed.

For the concreter, it would be helpful to ask how they’ll ensure proper fall and drainage, as well as what finish would be best for durability and slip resistance.

The landscape gardener could provide insights on how to integrate the drainage with the surrounding area and suggest any additional improvements for water management.

Regarding your other questions, Bunnings does not hire out stump grinders, but we do offer skip bin hire. However, our skip bins are not suitable for heavy construction waste like bricks and concrete, so you may need to look into a specialised waste removal service for those materials.
