Do I need to use a sealer before painting external brick wall? if so, what is an alternative to chrommelin. does dulux vista work and which one?
I watched a video of bunnings how to, but it doesn't use a sealer??
Hi @Ross-,
You typically won’t need a sealer before painting an external brick wall, but a primer can help ensure the paint adheres properly. Most high-quality exterior paints, like Dulux Weathershield, are self-priming, so you can usually paint directly over bricks that are in good condition. If the bricks are deteriorating or have a powdery surface, you may need a sealer to bind them together before painting.
Crommelin products are usually used for waterproofing, so are you trying to address a moisture issue with the bricks? If so, it might be worth looking into solutions for that before painting.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
