How to fill gaps in cladding of an enclosed carport?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on the best way to fill the gaps in this cladding which is applied to an enclosed carport.

I'm not the original owner, but I've been given the information that the sheets are fibre cement.

I visited a store yesterday and was given the advice that these are the wrong sheets to have been used for outside due to inability to handle weather and that blueboard sheets should have been used instead, I'm not entirely sure if that's accurate but at this stage I'm not looking to change them.

What's the best way to fill the gaps and hopefully prevent ingress from water to the garage. As for painting, can you please recommend a suitable primer and top coat, thanks!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @PerthDrew. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about filling gaps.

Typically, we use Duratex (blueboard) or Villaboard on the exterior of a dwelling, as it has rebated edges for setting compound and tape.

In your situation, I'd be inclined to fill the gaps with Sikaflex 11FC. Make sure to smooth it off with a soapy finger to get a solid transition between sheets.

Once the Sikaflex is dry, you can paint over the whole wall with exterior paint such as Dulux Weathershield. It's self-priming, so it doesn't need a separate primer on new masonry sheets.
