I am just about to lay some turf then found these on the soil. Do I get rid of it or can leave them? thanks

Finding grubs in your soil before laying turf is a concern, as they can feed on the grassroots and cause patches of dead or weak lawn. If you’ve only seen a few, it may not be a major issue, but if there are many, it’s best to treat them before laying the grass. You can use Scotts Grub and Insect Control from the store, which works well to kill lawn grubs and other soil-dwelling pests. Water it into the soil before laying the turf to ensure it reaches the grubs. Another option is Richgro Lawn Beetle and Grub Killa, which is also effective.
If you prefer a natural approach, turning over the soil to expose the grubs to birds can help, and applying neem oil-based products can also reduce their numbers. Once your turf is down, keep an eye out for any brown or weak spots, as that could indicate grub damage, and re-treat if necessary.
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when using chemical sprays on your lawn or garden.
