How to mount garden hose reel to timber framed house?

I have a Gardena roll up 20m reel I want to fit it to the exterior of my timber frame house. The mounting bracket has the screw holes 58mm apart, but I imagine the studs in my wall are standard 35/45mm width.

How can I go about getting the m ounting bracket on my wall?

First up I would like to say "Howdy" and welcome to the Bunnings community pages 🙂 I really think these pages have great ideas to take a wander through.

For your question tho, You wall looks like its going to be fibro and I really dont like the ide of drilling holes into that. Good news tho!

If you look at your tap, to the left and to the right there are two vertical strips, these are cover strips to cover the join between the sheets of material. Under them will be the studs for the walls.

You can install some timber across the distance between them that is wider then the 58mm required for your bracket. That way you can mount your hosereel to that instead.

I like Merbau and was thinking something like this 140 x 19mm SpecRite Merbau Pre-Oiled Decking - Random Lengths and mounting this board horizontaly with some spacers made of the same timber to jut it off the wall. That way your bolts can be fixed. The cover strips of the joins should be able to be levered off gently with a large flathead screwdriver, making sure you only put pressure right next to the join as you dont want to crack the fibro. Once the new mounting block is installe dthen you can cut the old trim to fit and replace. 

Note the studs in the wall will probarlly be hardwood so pilot holes are a must..

The reason I suggested the Merbau and the width as I think it will match the nice area you have more so then a piece of H3 pine the same size 🙂
