How to seal Travertine bench in kitchen?

Hi Team 

I have a question about my new travertine kitchen bench! 
what is the best cleaning solution to keep it clean and also if I need an sealant for it?  I’m not sure if it’s been sealed properly and I don’t want etching  or marks on it!

there a specific type of grout for some of the holes on the travertine??

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

If you're unsure whether your bench has been sealed, you can do a simple water test by placing a few drops of water on the surface and waiting for 10–15 minutes. If the water darkens the stone, it indicates that the surface is absorbing moisture and needs sealing. However, if the water beads up, the seal is still intact.

If you find that there is no sealer, then you can use this Crommelin Natural DiamondCoat Slate And Stone Sealer to seal your new benchtops. Ensure you follow the instructions on the packaging closely to achieve the best results.

For the pits and holes in the travertine, I would suggest using clear resin such as this Protite Clear Casting Embedding Resin as it will fill the hole but maintain the natural look of the stone. You'll have to mix the resin with this Protite Fibreglass Resin Catalyst Hardener, following the instructions on the packaging.

Once everything is filled and sealed, you can safely clean the benchtop with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
