Need ideas for front garden

Hello

So I have been working on this front garden for a little bit and now I'm stuck for ideas and I'm not happy with the end result.

Amy ideas would be fantastic I'm thinking to put a water feature in or maybe paint the pots black or just something to make it stand out more. To me it looks too plain and boring.

Any Advice would be great!

Hi @Taylamarie01,

First of all, nice work so far. Your front garden bed looks tidy and well-kept.

The main thing I notice is that you've gone from a variety of plants to what is essentially a clean slate. Are you looking to reduce the amount of plants for a reason?

Personally, I would be looking to add variety and colour to the space through ground cover plants such as Dichondras, Gazanias and Portulacas and medium-sized plants such as Salvias, Kangaroo Paws, and Cordylines. Together, these plants will create a vibrant and visually appealing mix of colour, texture, and form.

Adding some edging to the garden will also help to frame it and keep your mulch in place. Check out How To Install Garden Edging for some guidance.

You could then add water features, bird baths and garden ornaments to suit your style. This will add some variety and personalisation to the space.

Thanks so much for your advice. I originally only removed all the plants just to start fresh. But now it's looking really plain and like it's missing something

your right aabout those white pots blending in 🙂 My first thought as nah... they look fine but then the second batch of photos they really blend in when looking through towards the rd.

How about some bushy low shrubs between the panels? The existing pot plants could be used until the shrubs grow as a windbreak/protect the shrubs as they establish themselves?

Also maybe some low voltage or solar styled lights along your fence line so the evening would look nice. With the low voltage I would have some lights pointing up into and through those panels you have installed.

Last idea for plants, from your driveway, go low, medium plants then panels and the low all the way to the footpath. It may take a little to re-establish but I think it wiull work with the panels you have installed.

Nice lighting! I love how it changes the whole feel to an area 🙂

As to shrubs. Here is a list of a bunch of shrubs, it pretty much comes down to what you think you will maintain. Every shrub needs to be shapped and pruned. Also your colour preference is another factor I cant know 🙂

shrubs for a whole range of them. Also consider Australian banksias 140mm Honey Comb - Banksia spinulosa

I like these colourings 140mm Nandina Moon Bay - Nandina domestica This reminds me of my grandmas place and is hard wearing (takes a lot of brushing movement and tolerate being forgotten about)

And the second one I like purley for the bright colouring 250mm Duranta Sheenas Gold - Duranta Erecta tho this one will need pruning once establish as it grows to 3m 🙂

You can probarlly tell I liek bright leaves/flowering plants over actually flowers. I just find they are easier to maintain and theer is something about pruning them once a year if needed that tidies and freshesn the place up.
