How to fill large holes in internal white set walls?

I’m repainting the internal house and want to fix the large cracks that appear in every room. I have removed the loose white set and render so it back to the brick. 
1. What is the best product to fill the holes 

2. does the hole need to be sealed with a primer before filling to help the filling compound stick. If so water based or oil based primer

Since your render doesn’t have a gritty texture, Dunlop 5kg Ardit Rapidset Repair Mortar would be a great option for achieving a smooth and durable finish. This product is designed for fast repairs and easy application. Because the damage is not very large there is no need to use a primer for the surface, just make sure that it is clean and free of debris before applying the patch.

To apply it, use a trowel to spread the mortar evenly over the surface, ensuring full coverage. Work quickly, as the product sets rapidly. Once applied, immediately smooth it off to achieve a level finish. After about 15 minutes, go over the surface with a wet trowel to refine the texture further. Using a damp sponge at this stage will help eliminate any trowel marks and create a uniform, polished look.

For best results, refer to the application guide to ensure proper mixing and working times.

Once the patch has fully cured, I suggest using a paint primer over the surface before putting your topcoat on.
