How to stop kitchen tap leaking?

Hi all, just wanting some advice. The circled bit in my kitchen tap leaks when the tap is turned on, leaks more when tap is turned on more, etc. Just wondering if there’s a simple fix to this as the water is leaking onto the countertop underneath and I’m worried its going to cause more issues later on. Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your leaking tapware.

When you have a leak that is coming from the joint of the spout it is often an indicator that the O rings in that location have deteriorated. If your hot and cold tap are still working perfectly, I suggest removing the spout and getting a new set of O rings. To take the spout apart look for a tiny hole around the base of the spout. When you find this tiny hole, I recommend using an Allen key to slot into the hole and turning anticlockwise to remove the grub screw in that location.

Be very careful as it is very easy to loose the grub screw, set it aside in a safe location. You should now be able to pull the spout out of the base. You'll now see where O rings are located, I propose getting a Kinetic Assorted Sizes O Ring Kit - 43 Pack and matching the old O ring to one of the replacement sets. Make sure to change both O rings and apply Kinetic 15g Tap Lubricant to prevent tearing the O rings when you reinstall the spout.

Once you've successfully replaced the O rings and have lubricated it. Reinstall the spout and screw the grub screw back into place. Test the spout by turning on your tapware and letting it flow for a few moments.
