How to paint front wall and add a gate?

Hello all,

As you can see from the photos, the wall out front of our house is in need of some TLC. I have two questions if you can please assist;

1. What's the best paint to use to paint this a darker colour? (Any tips much appreciated thanks!)

2. The wall is lacking a gate and fence between the posts, is it possible to do this ourselves or best to get a professional in to install? I am assuming a professional but I'd like to get an idea of how hard it is for an amateur DIYer to do themselves?

To tackle the paint job on your front garden wall, start by giving it a good clean. Use Sugar Soap and a scrubbing brush to remove any dirt, grime, or old paint residue. Once cleaned, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and allow the wall to dry completely. Afterward, apply two coats of a high-quality exterior paint like Dulux Weathershield. This paint is perfect for outdoor surfaces and will give you a long-lasting, durable finish, especially if you're aiming for a darker colour.

For the gate and fence between the posts, systems like the Fortress gate frames can make it relatively straightforward for a DIYer to construct a custom-sized gate. If you're comfortable with basic DIY, you could definitely give this a go. With some experience, this project should be manageable, but if you're unsure, bringing in a professional could help ensure everything is perfectly aligned and secure.
