How to fix cracked tiles on balcony?

This is an old Queenslander.   They did some pretty weird things.   There was only a very small crack barely visible for 22 yrs (my time) & probably longer.    Now it looks like this.    The balcony is very solid but most people would freak looking at it - tenants or buyers.    I'm too sick to live in my own house, these tenants aren't paying rent so it's time to move on.   But I can't show the house looking like this.    The tenant thinks the tiles have not just been glued down but some sort of silicone product.   I wanted to pull them up & put down lino squares or the timber squares.   The picture of the back of the balcony I'm guessing doesn't give much of an idea of what the floor is made of.

Thanks for sharing the details and photos of your balcony. It does sound like a unique setup, and I can understand why you'd want to tidy it up before showing the property.

If you’re considering leaving the tiles in situ, timber tiles could definitely be an option. If there’s enough height to work with, even a low-level decking solution might be possible. I'm not aware of any lino-style tiles that are suitable for exterior use, as most are designed for indoor environments and wouldn’t hold up well to sun and rain exposure. If the current tiles were removed, you could look at having a new style installed.

You could certainly speak with a professional tiler or builder about whether similar tiles can be sourced and replaced, particularly if you'd prefer to keep the original look.
